Woodstock, Georgia  August 4th, 2001- A large crowd watched as Red Stauffer from Winter Park, Florida, raced home to win the Airflow Research Power Dash presented by Goodson Farms at Dixie Speedway on Saturday night. The exciting 6 car event which was the evening's first race and is a sneak preview of the action to come later at each USCS event, saw three leaders in 6 laps. In victory lane, 1997 USCS champ, Stauffer, stood next to Donn Goodson, President of the strawberry growers and packers to receive the $250 prize for his quick trip to victory lane and photos. Two heat races followed that saw quickly rising USCS star, Flyin' Brian Thomas literally drive off from the field using the bottom of the race track to his full advantage. Then USCS' 2001 top rookie Ben Basinger, from Granite Quarry, North Carolina, showed the big Dixie crowd what he has learned thru his first 20 USCS events. Basinger showed he can get it done when the car is right, as his team shook the engine problems he has had over several events. The rookie 18 year old looked like "the real deal" as he drove away from a field of veterans to dominate the second heat race. The strong twenty-two car from eight states, Dixie Speedway officials and thousands of race fans were disappointed as rain started to slowly fall one lap into the USCS third heat race at Dixie Speedway, Saturday night. A delay with hopes for drier conditions was held but the rains came back about 15 minutes later in buckets and the event was rescheduled for Saturday night October 20th. ticket info can be had for the October 20th event by calling 770-926-5315.
